About Us
"I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. " Zephaniah 13: 9
For a number of years the Holy Spirit has been at work birthing the Father's heart in individuals to carry out the commission ". . .to set the captives free. . ." In the fall of 2004, He began to draw us together from extremely different backgrounds, occupations and locations. Each one of us carried the same vision- an aftercare ministry for ex-offenders!
Some of us have served time, some only by the grace of God, have not and some of us carried the message of the love and changing power of Jesus Christ into the jails and prisons.
Our hearts were broken, as God's heart is, by what we saw there. Many of the men experienced the saving grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ and His power to change them. Their desire was to walk with Him the rest of their lives but upon release, it was quite different.
Their circumstances "back home" hadn't changed-same neighborhood, same friends, same temptations, same pressures and same devil lurking around each corner eager to help them fail INCARCERATION AGAIN and sometimes again and again.
We at Refiner's Fire desire to help break this destructive pattern in their lives with God's help.
To this mission, the Lord has provided a 400-acre farm in Colebrook, NH that we will be leasing. The property has several buildings. We will be using two buildings, one for the Executive Director and his family while the other will house the men in the program.
The twelve to fifteen month program is designed to teach them how to be Godly men, Godly husbands, Godly fathers and to live Godly lives in their world. It will incorporate spirituality with proper work and living habits. With God's help, we will customize the program to meet the needs of the individual. We realize that those who have served long sentences have much different issues to deal with in trying to get successfully back into the community.
Men will be selected from the prison systems. They will be chosen based on their commitment to become the "man of God" He created them to be. Selections will not be biased by denomination, race or ethnic background.
All men will first be required to give testimony of being born again in Christ. They will also be required to complete the appropriate application, questionnaires, medical and sentencing information. In addition, they will have a personal interview with the Chaplin of their facility, members of the prison ministry team serving at that facility, the ministry's Executive Director and other designated members of the ministry. All men will be required to participate in all of the programs established by this ministry.
By the grace of God, we desire to be operational in 2006. To accomplish what we believe God has called us to do, we need finances.
